Sea Kings Freshmen Fall for First Time, Lose 8-2

March 4, 2025

The Sea Kings Freshmen suffered their first loss of the season when they were defeated by the San Juan Hills Stallions, 8-2. There were several bright spots for the Sea Kings, and they even out-hit the Stallions seven to five, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to overcome some uncharacteristic wildness on the part of the Sea Kings pitchers and timely hitting by the Stallions.

The Sea Kings jumped out in front in the first inning on a single by Luca DiNapoli (‘28), who scored on a ground out by Brody Majit (‘28). But that lead quickly evaporated in the second inning when San Juan Hills hung five runs on the scoreboard.

In the fourth inning, the Stallions tacked on an unearned run aided by a pair of Sea Kings fielding miscues.

The Sea Kings tried to mount a comeback in the fourth inning when Luke Kittleson (‘28) doubled in Colt Fyke (‘28), but the game was ultimately put out of reach by the Stallions in the sixth inning when a leadoff walk was followed by a two-run homer.

Kittleson displayed his two-way excellence when he extended his four-game on-base streak with his RBI double and coupled that with two excellent innings on the mound in relief. In the seventh inning, he pitched himself into and then out of trouble, when he issued a leadoff walk followed by a double, but then proceeded to strike out the side. For the day, he finished his two innings of mound work by allowing no runs on one hit and striking out five Stallions.

Fyke powered his way to a two for two day with a double plus a walk and a run scored. He extended his season-long on-base streak to four games.

As usual, DiNapoli ignited the Sea Kings offense out of his leadoff perch going two for three and extending his on-base streak to four games.

Not to be left out, Tait Weissman (‘28) extended his season-long hit streak to four games with a single in his final at-bat of the day.

The Sea Kings Freshmen are next in action on Friday, March 7 versus the Titans of Tesoro.
