The Huntington Beach Oilers completed their season sweep of the Sea Kings Varsity on Friday. The Oilers scored their only runs in the 2-0 contest on two solo home runs, one in the first inning and one in the seventh inning.
The Sea Kings had several scoring opportunities during the game. In the first and fifth innings, the Sea Kings had runners on first and second base with one out and in the fourth inning, the bases were loaded with one out. In each case, the Huntington Beach hurlers were able to buckle down and kill off the potential rally.
Starter Stevie Jones (‘26) took the loss despite holding the Oilers to one run on four hits during his sixth innings of mound work.
Ganon Overfelt (‘25) and Princeton-commit Vincent Menard (‘25) each had a single and a walk to reach base twice for the Sea Kings.
Menard, Brady Gadol (‘25) and Marc Solomon (‘25) all extended their on-base streaks to five games.
The Sea Kings Varsity returns to action next week for a three-game set with the Los Alamitos Griffins. Game 1 is Tuesday, April 8 at Los Alamitos.
