The Sea Kings Freshmen suffered their second loss of the season when they fell to the Fullerton Indians 14-2 on Saturday. The Indians took full advantage of the Sea Kings generosity, as the Sea Kings issued eight walks, hit four batters and committed five errors.
The game was tight through three innings with Fullerton holding a 2-0 advantage.
The fourth inning started innocently enough with a Fullerton batter reaching on an error, followed by a ground out and a strikeout. After another error, the Indians took advantage of the bonus outs, and tallied six runs on three walks, three base hits and a home run.
The Sea Kings tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the frame when Jackson Lawrence (‘28) drove in a pair of runs following singles by Colt Fyke (‘28) and JJ Haley (‘28).
Fullerton ended any thoughts of a comeback when they scored two runs in the fifth inning and four more in the six.
The bright spot for the Sea Kings was Haley’s stick work. He finished the day going three for three, including a double, and scored a run.
Colt Fyke was able to extend his season-long on-base streak to five games with his single in the fourth inning.
The Sea Kings Freshmen are scheduled to face off with the Capo Valley Christian Eagles at home on Tuesday, March 11.
