Sea Kings Freshmen Clobber Mission Viejo in Season Opener

The freshmen started their Sea Kings careers with a resounding 10-1 victory at home over the Mission Viejo Diablos.

The hit parade started in the bottom of the first inning, as the Sea Kings tallied three runs on three hits. In the second inning, the Sea Kings manufactured a run after JJ Haley (‘28) singled, stole second and third, and eventually scored on a groundout by Colt Fyke (‘28). The Sea Kings tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth with an offensive onslaught that included four hits, two walks and a hit by pitch. After scoring three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Sea Kings had put the game well out of reach.

William Gould (‘27) started on the bump for the Sea Kings and pitched 4 1/3 solid innings, allowing only one run, while scattering four hits and striking out five Diablo batters. The final 2 2/3 innings were mopped up by Fyke and Brody Majit (‘28), neither of whom allowed a hit.

The Sea Kings got offensive contributions up and down the lineup. Silas Gartner (‘28) and Majit both had three hits, with Majit also leading the charge with three RBI’s and three steals. Haley also had three steals for the Sea Kings and scored three runs.
