The Sea Kings Junior Varsity lost 6-0 to the Newport Harbor Sailors on Friday.

The game was scoreless heading into the third inning when the Sailors posted a trio of runs on a bases-clearing double.

A pair of extra-base hits resulted in another run for the Sailors in the fourth inning and the score stood at 4-0.

Newport Harbor added another run in the top of the fifth inning with a two-out rally featuring a single followed by a double.

The Sea Kings created traffic on the bases in the bottom of the fifth inning, but a double play by the Sailors helped kill off the rally.

In the sixth inning, the Sailors tallied their final run after three walks to start the inning were followed by an RBI fielder’s choice.

The bottom of the sixth frame saw the Sea Kings attempt to mount a rally, as they loaded the bases with no outs against Newport Harbor’s reliever. After two strikeouts, the final Sea Kings’ batter of the inning grounded out to extinguish the threat.

Max Brengel (‘27) had a pair of singles for the Sea Kings to extend his hitting streak to six games and his on-base streak to eight games.

The Sea Kings got great work out of the bullpen from Kyle Womack (‘27), who entered the game in the sixth inning with the bases loaded and nobody out. Womack was able to choke off that rally, surrendering only one run and finished his day with one hit and no earned runs allowed over two innings.

The Sea Kings Freshmen travel to Fountain Valley to face the Barons on Tuesday, March 25.
