Sea Kings Varsity Extends Win Streak to Three Games

April 16, 2025

On Wednesday, the Sea Kings Varsity hosted the Marina Vikings and sent the Vikings home on the short end of a 4-2 final score.

The Sea Kings jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Princeton-commit Vincent Menard (‘25) opened the game for the Sea Kings with a base hit and then stole second base. Menard advanced to third base thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Brady Gadol (‘25) and scored on a fielder’s choice by Ganon Overfelt (‘25).

The Vikings immediately answered back in the top of the second inning when a pair of doubles resulted in a run to tie up the score at one apiece.

The bottom of the fifth inning proved to be decisive, as the Sea Kings tallied three runs. William Chiechi (‘25) led off the inning with a single and one out later Menard singled to put two runners aboard. Gadol then cleared the bases with a two-RBI triple. Gadol, himself, would score when the next batter, Overfelt, singled to center field.

Marina scored a meaningless run in the top of the seventh inning to make the final score 4-2.

The Sea Kings got excellent production out of the top of their batting order throughout the day. Leadoff man Menard was two for three, with two runs scored and a stolen base. Number two in the order, Gadol, was one for two with a triple, a run scored and two RBI. Hitting out of the three hole, Overfelt was one for three with two RBI and cleanup man Stevie Jones (’26) was two for three.

Will Chavez (‘26) started on the bump for the Sea Kings and was outstanding. Chavez pitched a complete game, scattering six hits across the frames and allowing two earned runs. He struck out four Vikings, while walking none.

The Sea Kings Varsity and the Marina Vikings wrap up their three game series on Friday, April 18.
