Offense Fails to Launch for Sea Kings Freshmen in 7-0 Loss

April 8, 2025

In a game that was closer than the score would indicate, the Los Alamitos Griffins defeated the Sea Kings Freshmen 7-0 in game one of their three-game series.

Los Alamitos jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a single and a stolen base, followed by a two-out RBI knock.

The Sea Kings attempted to strike back immediately in the bottom of the first inning, but Brody Majit (‘28) was caught stealing after his leadoff double. As it would turn out, Majit’s leadoff double was the only hit the Sea Kings would muster on the day.

The top of the third inning turned out to be decisive as the Griffins plated five runs, all but one of which were unearned. Two errors by the Sea Kings extended the inning and the Griffins ultimately sent ten batters to the plate.

The Sea Kings had two baserunners in the bottom of the sixth inning courtesy of a pair of walks, but the Griffins’ catcher again erased a threat when Majit was cut down on an attempted steal.

The Griffins added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning to make the final score 7-0.

The lack of offense and untimely defensive miscues ultimately doomed the Sea Kings, but the pitchers acquitted themselves well. Starter William Gould (‘27) went four innings and allowed two earned runs, while reliever Luke Kittleson (‘28) pitched the final three innings and allowed only one earned run.

The Sea Kings Freshmen and Los Alamitos Griffins battle again on Wednesday, April 9.
