The Sea Kings Junior Varsity traveled to Huntington Beach to face the Oilers on Friday and came away with a 14-2 loss. The Sea Kings jumped out in front 2-0 in the top of the first inning, but were then overwhelmed by the Oilers offense the rest of the way.
In the top of the first inning, Cason Yarnell (‘27) lead off by drawing a walk and then stealing second base. He came around to score when Prescott Nyman (‘27) lined a double into left field. After Nyman stole third base, he was driven in by a Cash Burns (‘27) single up the middle.
The Sea Kings tried three different pitchers to no avail, as the Oilers scored fourteen runs on ten hits over the next three innings. Burns finished the game on the mound for the Sea Kings and registered three strikeouts over the course of one and one-third innings pitched.
At the plate, Burns finished his day one for two with an RBI. Brady Zenz (‘26) was also one for two with a double.
Nyman filled up the box score going one for two with a double, while scoring a run, collecting an RBI and stealing a base.
The Sea Kings Junior Varsity will face the Los Alamitos Griffins in three games next week, with the series kicking off at home on Tuesday, April 8.
