Sea Kings Varsity Completes Sweep

April 18, 2025

The Sea Kings Varsity secured a 5-2 victory over Marina on Friday to complete their season sweep of the Vikings.

In the top of the third inning, the Sea Kings scored all the runs they would need for the game. Marc Solomon (‘25) led off the inning with a single and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt. After Princeton-commit Vincent Menard (‘25) singled, the Sea Kings had runners on the corners. Solomon tallied the Sea Kings first run courtesy of a balk. Regardless, he would have scored two pitches later, as Brady Gadol (‘25) lined a double into center field that plated Menard. All-time Sea Kings base thief Gadol then stole third base and scored when Ganon Overfelt (‘25) grounded out to the Vikings shortstop putting the Sea Kings up 3-0.

The Sea Kings added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning courtesy of a pair of Vikings’ errors and a two-RBI single by Stevie Jones (‘26).

The Vikings put up a bit of a fight in the seventh inning when they scored two runs on the back of three singles, a walk and a Sea Kings’ error, but it was too little, too late.

Jones was masterful on the bump for the Sea Kings. He cruised through six innings, allowing no runs on two hits, while striking out seven and walking only one Viking. Jones, who has a four game hitting streak, also led the offense for the Sea Kings. At the plate, he was two for three plus a walk, and collected two RBI.

Gadol, himself the owner of a four game hitting streak, in addition to a four game run-scoring streak, finished his day one for three with a double, and he scored a run, drove one in and stole a base.

Overfelt drove in a run for the fifth straight game and extended his on-base streak to four games. His final stat line was one for three with a run, an RBI and a stolen base.

Designated hitter Solomon was two for three with a run scored.

Senior Menard is riding a streak of five games in which he has reached base and scored a run.

With his walk in the sixth inning, Sea Kings’ backstop Charlie Kaster (‘26) stretched his on-base streak to four games.

The Sea Kings Varsity host the Edison Chargers on Tuesday, April 22 in game one of their three game series.
