Sea Kings Varsity Pitchers Dominate Once Again, While Menard Goes Big Fly

February 25, 2025

The Sea Kings Varsity notched their second road win of the season, defeating Segerstrom 6-0 on Tuesday. As in their first game of the season, dominate pitching was the storyline. Starter Stonehill College-commit Marcello Anelli (‘25) notched the victory, as he combined with relievers Isaiah Vasquez (‘25) and Will Chavez (‘26) to shut out the Jaguars. The Sea Kings pitching trio scattered six hits across seven innings, striking out eight while issuing only one walk. Sea Kings pitchers have yet to give up a run this season.

The game was knotted at 0-0 through three innings before the Sea Kings broke the seal with two runs in the top of the fourth. Princeton-commit Vincent Menard (‘25) opened the frame with a single and later scored on a single to left field by William Chiechi (‘25). Chiechi then scored when Charlie Kaster (‘26) singled to right field.

In the fifth inning Brady Gadol (‘25) lead off with a single, which was followed by Menard’s two-run home run blast to left field. The fifth inning scoring did not stop there, as Stevie Jones (‘26) singled and advanced to second base on a passed ball, and was then driven home by Ganon Overfelt’s (‘25) single to left field.

The Sea Kings eventually tacked on an insurance run in the seventh inning.

Seven different Sea Kings recorded a hit during the game, with Menard stuffing the scorebook with two hits, two runs, two RBI’s, and a walk to round things out. Leadoff man Gadol reached base twice with a single and a walk, and came around to score both times.

The Sea Kings Varsity continues their road swing with a game at Dana Point on Friday, February 28.
