The Sea Kings Varsity lost game one of their three-game series to the Los Alamitos Griffins on Tuesday. The final score was 7-1.
The game started out on a positive note for the Sea Kings. In the first inning, leadoff man Brady Gadol (‘25) opened the game with a single and then stole second base. After a sacrifice bunt advanced Gadol to third base, he scored on a groundout by Princeton-commit Vincent Menard (‘25) and the Sea Kings were up 1-0.
The Griffins took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after an error opened the door to three unearned runs.
The bottom of the sixth inning saw a two-out rally by Los Alamitos, in which they scored four runs to make the final result 7-1.
Four Los Alamitos hurlers held the Sea Kings to two hits on the day, with the Sea Kings advancing a runner into scoring position only once.
Stonehill College-commit Marcelo Anelli (‘25) started on the mound for the Sea Kings and pitched four and two-thirds innings, allowing zero earned runs and striking out nine.
Gadol extended his on-base streak to six games, as he went one for three with a stolen base and a run scored.
The Sea Kings other hit belonged to shortstop Ganon Overfelt (‘25), who stretched his hitting streak to four games.
When designated hitter Marc Solomon (‘25) was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning, he kept his six game on-base streak alive.
Game 2 in the series will be Wednesday, April 9, when the Sea Kings Varsity hosts the Griffins.
