The game started out on a positive note for the Sea Kings. In the first inning, leadoff man Brady Gadol (‘25) opened the game with a single and then stole second base. After a sacrifice bunt advanced Gadol to third base, he scored on a groundout by Princeton-commit Vincent Menard (‘25) and the Sea Kings were up 1-0.
The Griffins took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after an error opened the door to three unearned runs.
The bottom of the sixth inning saw a two-out rally by Los Alamitos, in which they scored four runs to make the final result 7-1.
Four Los Alamitos hurlers held the Sea Kings to two hits on the day, with the Sea Kings advancing a runner into scoring position only once.

Sea Kings Junior Varsity Doomed by Defensive Miscues
In a game that slid away as the defensive miscues piled up, the Sea Kings Junior Varsity lost to the Los Alamitos Griffins 10-2.
The trouble for the Sea Kings defense started with the very first Griffins batter of the day, who reached on a error and later came around to score, making the score 1-0 Los Alamitos. Again in the second inning, the Griffins plated a run, this time as a result of two Sea Kings’ errors.
The Sea Kings battled back to tie the score at two apiece in the bottom of the second inning. Prescott Nyman (‘27) and Maxwell Morton (‘27) had back-to-back singles to open the frame. A sacrifice bunt by Sam Healy (‘27) pushed the runners over to second and third bases. Brady Zenz (‘26) then lashed a line drive to center field to plate both Nyman and Morton.
Los Alamitos broke the tie in the top of the third inning when they scored two runs, again aided by an error on the part of the Sea Kings’ defense.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Sea Kings looked to once again rally when Max Brengel’s (‘27) two-out single and Nyman’s walk put two men aboard. This time though, the Sea Kings couldn’t deliver the clutch hit and the score remained 4-2.
The Griffins posted another three runs in the top of the fourth inning, as the Sea Kings aided the cause with two more fielding errors.
The Sea Kings failed to mount any offense the rest of the way, sending the minimum twelve batters to the plate, while the Griffins tacked on three insurance runs to make the final score 10-2.
For the game, the Sea Kings pitchers allowed ten runs, only five of which were earned.
Morton ended the game one for three with a run scored and extended his hitting streak to four games.
Nyman reached base twice going one for two with a walk and scored a run.
Junior Brady Zenz was one for two and drove in the Sea Kings’ two runs.

Offense Fails to Launch for Sea Kings Freshmen in 7-0 Loss
In a game that was closer than the score would indicate, the Los Alamitos Griffins defeated the Sea Kings Freshmen 7-0 in game one of their three-game series.
Los Alamitos jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a single and a stolen base, followed by a two-out RBI knock.
The Sea Kings attempted to strike back immediately in the bottom of the first inning, but Brody Majit (‘28) was caught stealing after his leadoff double. As it would turn out, Majit’s leadoff double was the only hit the Sea Kings would muster on the day.
The top of the third inning turned out to be decisive as the Griffins plated five runs, all but one of which were unearned. Two errors by the Sea Kings extended the inning and the Griffins ultimately sent ten batters to the plate.

Opportunistic Oilers Defeat Sea Kings Varsity
The Sea Kings Varsity faced off against the Huntington Beach Oilers for the second day in a row and came out on the losing end of a 4-3 decision. The game was one of the most unconventional baseball games you’ll see, as the Sea Kings actually out-hit the Oilers 9-2.
The Oilers benefited greatly from one of their only two hits being a two-run homer. Otherwise, things were fairly even between the teams. Both teams committed costly fielding errors that resulted in unearned runs. And both pitching staffs issued a similar number of walks, hit by pitches and wild pitches. But it was the timing of those events that ultimately did in the Sea Kings.
Huntington Beach jumped out in front 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning when a walk, a hit by pitch and an error loaded the bases in front of a sacrifice fly.
The Sea Kings came back in the top of the third inning to tie the score 1-1. Brady Gadol (‘25) lead off the frame with a double and advanced to third base on a bunt single by Ganon Overfelt (‘25). Gadol ultimately scored on a groundout.

Gadol came around to score when the Oilers’ right fielder misplayed the ball on Overfelt’s hit, which also allowed Overfelt to advance all the way to third base. One batter later, Overfelt scored on a groundout and the Sea Kings were down only one run, but were also down to their last out. A game-ending strikeout sealed the victory for the Oilers.
The top of the batting order delivered excellent production for the Sea Kings throughout the day. Leadoff man Gadol was four for four with a double and two runs scored. Number two man Overfelt was two for four with a run scored. And Princeton-commit Vincent Menard (‘25) was also two for four batting in the three hole.
